Ruby “Gertrude” Spruill

Mrs. Ruby “Gertrude” Spruill, 79, of 1564 Main St., Jamesville, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Hillside Memorial Gardens, with The Rev. Leonard Bowers officiating.
Mrs. Spruill was born in Washington County on Sept. 14, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Thomas McKinley Spruill and Ruby Phelps Spruill. Mrs. Spruill was a retired waitress. She attended Hope Free Will Baptist Church.
Mrs. Spruill was preceded in death by a brother, Walton Spruill, and two sisters, Ola Spruill and Emmaline Spruill.
Mrs. Spruill is survived by a son, Charles Perrone of Jamesville, and a brother, Douglas M. Spruill of Hampton, Va., four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home-Horner Chapel. Flowers are welcome and memorial contributions can be made in Mrs. Spruill’s name in care of Hope Free Will Baptist Church, 156 Roxie Reese Road, Plymouth, NC 27962.
