Mr. James Luther Owens Sr., 87, of 12802 Sutters Lane, Bowie, Md., died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown, Md.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. James M. Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Owens was born in Tyrrell County on Dec. 23, 1921. He was the son of the late Pinkie Bess and Moses Owens. He was an Army veteran. He was a widower. He had been employed with CNP Telephone.
Survivors include three sons, James L. Owens Jr. of Largo, Md., Rodger Owens of Abingdon, Md., and Keith Owens of Pasadena, Md.; two daughters, Bridget Fenner of Bowie, Md., and Portia Bingham of Baltimore, Md.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
