Mrs. Christine Elizabeth Ayers, 80, of 401 Crandell St., Robersonville, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at Davis Health Care in Wilmington.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Robersonville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Gay officiating. Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Ayers was born in Martin County on Sept. 7, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Jesse Marvin Ayers and Neva Bell Bowen Ayers. On Dec. 19, 1945, she married William Melton Ayers, who preceded her in death. She worked as a retail clerk until her retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Joyce Williams of Wilmington, Shelby Jean Hunter of Mount Airy and Janie Anne Boyer of Powhatan, Va.
She was preceded in death by one son, Russell Ayers.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Robersonville Baptist Church and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Robersonville Rescue Squad or Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care, Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
