If Washington and Edenton-Holmes played 100 times, each would probably win 50 games.
Unfortunately, they only played once. And this time, it was the Aces’ night.
Tyler Edmondson, Jacob Lewis, Adam Lewis and Evan Miller each scored singles victories for Edenton-Holmes on Wednesday to lead the Aces past the Pam Pack 5-4.
Washington got wins at Matt Batchelor’s No. 3 singles position, as Batchelor won on a third set tiebreaker over Edenton’s Grainger Coughtney (10-6). Brandon Washington also picked up a victory at No. 5 singles with a win in a third set tiebreaker over Van Johnson (10-4).
In doubles action, Matt Batchelor teamed up with Gray Stowe to pick up his second win of the day at number two doubles.
The highlight of the match, though, was a marathon 14-12 match at No. 3 doubles in which Brandon Washington and Colin Daw used strong net play and outlasted Adam Lewis and Josh Laverty to finally pull ahead after nearly three hours.
Despite the strong effort by Washington, Edenton sealed the victory as Edmondson and Jacob Lewis raced to victory at No. 1 doubles.
The Pam Pack (2-2) will return to the courts later today against J.H. Rose.
