Mrs. Deborah Parker Cummings, 51, of 406 Railroad St., Roper, died Monday, March 23, 2009, at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Lily of the Valley Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jasper Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in the McNair family cemetery.
Mrs. Cummings was born in Kings County, N.Y., on May 11, 1957. She was the daughter of Irma McNair Parker of Plymouth and the late Lonnie Parker. She was a teacher’s assistant with the Washington County Schools at Pines Elementary School. She was married to Michael Cummings Sr., who preceded her in death. She was a member of Lily of the Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Michael Cummings Jr. of Cary; two daughters, Irmina Cummings and Armana Cummings, both of Roper; four brothers, Jerome McNair, Kenneth Parker and Jonathan Parker, all of Plymouth, and Anthony Parker of Monroe; three sisters, Denise Chambliss of Charlotte, Shelia Johnson and Carolyn Gore, both of Roanoke Rapids; and eight grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lily of the Valley Missionary Baptist Church and other times at the home of her daughter, Irmina Cummings, 501 Walker St., Roper, and her mother, 1321 McNair Road, Plymouth.
Arrangements are by Toodle’s Funeral Home, Plymouth.
