Mr. Noah Swindell Purifoy

Mr. Noah Swindell Purifoy, age 57, of 402 East 11th Street, Washington passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Beaufort County Medical Center after a lengthy battle with cancer.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Oakdale Cemetery with Pastor Ronnie Gurganus and Pastor Phillip Jethro officiating. Clifton Fulford, Sr., Stuart Ricks, Kenny Whitley, Billy McRoy, Shane Schmidt, and William Bell will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington and other times at the home.
Mr. Purifoy was born January 20, 1952 in Beaufort County. He was the son of Martha Purifoy Fleming and the late Oscar Nicholson Purifoy. He attended Washington High School. Noah was retired from National Spinning Company of Washington with 32 years of service. He also worked 3 years for Patterson and Wilder Construction Company. On February 8, 1997, he married the former Alice Faye McRoy, who survives. He attended Alligood Church of God and Hodges Chapel Church of God. Noah loved people and was always willing to give a helping hand. He was a loving husband, son, father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be missed greatly by everyone who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Faye McRoy Purifoy; his mother, Martha Purifoy Fleming of Washington; two daughters Monica Fulford and husband, Clifton, Sr. of Washington, and Bobbie Jo Ricks and husband, Stuart of Pantego; two sons, Macon Harris of Goldsboro, and Mark Harris of Washington; three sisters, Gloria Moore and husband, Danny of Chocowinity, Sandra Kay Houston and husband, Johnnie of Blounts Creek, and Dottie Ann Mayo and husband, Jay of Grimesland; four grandsons, Hunter Sutton, Clifton Fulford, Jr., Brandon Lee Harris, and Marshal Stuart Ricks; and three granddaughters, Lauren Kellie Ricks, Cassidy Fulford, and Tiffany Fulford.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James F. Purifoy and two infant siblings. He also leaves behind his two faithful companions, Prissy and Elvis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to: The Noah Purifoy Memorial Fund, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington, NC 27889.
The family would like to thank all who shared their love and prayers, and a special thanks to Patterson and Wilder Construction Company for their ongoing support during Noah’s illness.
