Williamston wins, Pack suspended

Harris Shepherd was solid on the mound, leading the Williamston Tigers to an 11-1 victory over the Northside Panthers in Tuesday’s high school softball action. Shepherd fanned 10 batters and walked four.
Shepherd also had a pair of hits and drove in two. Cassie Harrell also banged out two hits, including a double, while knocking in a run. Courtney Wynn doubled and had an RBI, while Heather Jackson also doubled.
The Tigers (5-2, 3-1) play host to Edenton at 7 p.m. today before hosting Southside at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Pack-Bears suspended
The Washington Pam Pack and New Bern Bears saw their game get suspended after 12 innings of play. They will complete the game when Washington travels to New Bern on May 1.
Pack pitcher Charity Watson had not allowed a hit and fanned 28 batters over the 12 innings. Hayley Stowe and Kristi Wood had two hits for Washington.
The Pack plays at Havelock on Thursday, along with the junior varsity team, which fell 4-3 to New Bern.
Raiders fall
The Pungo Raiders fell 6-2 to Trinity on Tuesday.
Brinkley Johnson suffered the loss on the hill. Kim Clayton had two hits, while Hannah Mutschler had a hit and drove in two for the Raiders.
Pungo (3-2) plays at Terra Ceia on Thursday.
BASEBALL
Tigers cruise
The Williamston Tigers posted an 11-1 victory over the Northside Panthers on Tuesday.
Josh Warren fired a two-hitter, fanning seven.
Cody Speller, Will Davis and Heath Rogerson all had two hits for the Tigers.
Williamston (4-4, 3-1) plays host to Edenton at 7 p.m. today, then plays host to Southside on Thursday in a 7 p.m. contest.
Vikings win
The Plymouth Vikings road the arm and bat of Eli Spruill to a 3-2 victory over the Camden Bruins in Tuesday’s prep baseball action.
Spruill picked up the win on the hill, and banged out a pair of hits. David Cook also had two hits for the Vikings (4-5).
Plymouth faces Manteo on Thursday.
Terra Ceia takes second
Wayne Woolard carded a 78 to help the Terra Ceia Knights capture second in a five-team golf match Tuesday afternoon.
Northeast won the match with a 352, while Terra Ceia was 13 shots off the pace with a 365. Also scoring for the Knights were Andrew Darkow (86), Grant Gelderman (91) and Kathryn Smith (110).
The Knights face Northside in a match Monday at Bayview.
MIDDLE SCHOOL SOCCER
Demons split
The P.S. Jones middle school soccer teams split on Tuesday. Team One picked up a 5-4 win in a sudden-death shootout. Sarah Jennings, Luis Gamboa, Thomas Hall, Michael McKeel and Turner Fottler tallied the goals for P.S. Jones. The Demons will return to action Thursday at Farmville Central.
Team Two suffered a 3-1 setback to EB Aycock. Emily Bohn scored the goal for the Demons, who return to action at home Thursday.
