EDEN — Alice Roberson Terry, 78, of 539 Moir Street, passed away Tuesday evening, April 7, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Terry was born January 6, 1931 in Leaksville, N.C. (now Eden), daughter of the late Frank and Lelia Corum Roberson. She was a former member of St. Mary’s by the Highway Episcopal Church and a current member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Alice will be remembered for her great love of family and her church. She enjoyed being outdoors tending both her flower and vegetable gardens, especially her tomatoes. She also loved trips to the beach and a little bird-watching, in particular, her favorite, “red birds.”
Surviving are her daughters, Vicky T. Slaughter and husband, Robert of Eden, and Linda T. Hollowell and husband, Ben of Washington, N.C.; brother, Charles Roberson and wife, Gracie of Eden; three grandchildren, Joel Ferguson, Morgan Hollowell, and Misty Hill; and a great-grandson, Zackary Hill; life-long friends, Vergie Shively and John Richard Jarrell (aka JJ); and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Terry; sister, Camilla Hutcherson; and brother, Calvin Coolidge Roberson.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff of Morehead Memorial Hospital and to Dr. Vyas for their care and support.
Visitation will be held Friday evening, 6-8 p.m. at Fair Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Vicky Slaughter, 1645 Bethlehem Church Road in Reidsville.
