Chocowinity — Mrs. Agnes Davenport Smith, age 79, of 74 Victory Lane, Chocowinity, NC passed away at her home Saturday, April 11, 2009.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Haw Branch Church Cemetery with DJ Maxey officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, April 13, 2009 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington.
Mrs. Smith was born February 7, 1930 in Greene County, NC to John Thomas and Espy Williams Davenport. Agnes was a homemaker and lived in Beaufort County her entire life. She was a member of Haw Branch Church of Christ, Chocowinity.
Survivors include two daughters, Maxine Jones of Washington and Ruth Sutton of Chocowinity; six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three daughters, June C. Rowe, Anna C. Varble and Rachel C. Everson; one son, Felton “Buddy” Chandler; and thirteen brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be directed to the Agnes Smith Memorial Fund, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington, NC 27889.
