Kathi McCoy Johnson, loving wife, daughter, granddaughter, sister and friend, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009 at the age of 29. Kathi grew up in the Jasper community and graduated from West Craven High School in 1997 and later graduated from Lenoir Community College. She loved caring for her patients at East Carolina Internal Medicine in Pollocksville where she worked as a CT technician and recently coordinated E.C.I.M.’s first blood drive in honor of Christopher Kendall. The blood drive was a great success with around 100 people giving blood. Kathi will forever be remembered for her kindness and thoughtfulness.
A service to celebrate Kathi’s life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the New Bern Church of God, located on the corner of Colony Drive and Neuse Boulevard with the Rev. John Clark officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday morning in the cemetery of her home church, Gospel Outreach Church located on NC HWY 55, just west of Jasper.
Kathi is survived by her husband, William Johnson of Grifton, whom she loved dearly and was happily devoted to; her loving parents, Tommy and Sue McCoy of Jasper; brother, Chris McCoy and wife Caroline of Jasper; grandmother, Kay Radford of Chocowinity; grandfather, Sheridan McCoy and his wife Jean of Cove City; mother-in-law, Sylvia Nesbitt and husband David of Grifton; father-in-law, Linwood Johnson and wife Cindy of Grifton; and many special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
