Northside wins on Senior Night

YEATESVILLE — The Northside Panthers picked up a 2-1 win over Williamston on Senior Night.
Seniors Amanda Beirne, who picked up the win and had a hit, and Cameron Waters, who had a hit and scored the game-winner, were honored prior to the game.
Northside (10-7, 2-2 Atlantic) scored the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh inning. With Waters on base, Whitney Lewis hit a fly and two Williamston players collied while going for the ball. Waters scored on the play.
Beirne, who will pitch at Meredith College next year, fanned 17 in the win.
Lewis had two hits, while Hannah Bowen and Kayla Woolard also had hits.
Northside plays at Roanoke on Tuesday and at Southside on Thursday. (WDN)
Lady Pack wins two
The Washington Lady Pam Pack softball team picked up two wins at New Bern on Friday night.
The Pack (12-4, 8-2 Coastal Conference) won 1-0 in 17 innings in the completion of a game suspended earlier this year. Hayley Stowe (3-for-6) led off the bottom of the 17th with a single, stole second and later scored on an error.
Charity Watson fanned 38 and allowed just one hit in notching the victory.
Kayla Spain and Morgan Bryant each added a hit.
Washington won 8-0 in the second game. Watson struck out 14 and gave up just two hits.
The Pack, scoring two runs in the second, fifth, sixth and seventh innings, finished with 11 hits. Watson had two hits, including a double, as did Brittany Bryant. Lily Ann Arnold drove in two with a hit, while Stowe (RBI), Sarah Mayo, Stacey Mayer, Morgan Bryant, Spain and Brittany Moss also had hits.
State Game tryouts
State Game softball tryouts will be held at North Pitt today at 10 a.m. and at Northside High School on May 9 at 11 a.m.
Northside coach Louise Beirne is one of the coaches this year.

JV Lady Pack fall
The Washington Lady Pam Pack junior varsity softball team fell 4-0 to New Bern on Friday.
Brandi Hardison, who suffered the loss, fanned two and walked one. Carolina Smith and Morgan Rose both hit doubles for the Pack.
Washington returns to action Tuesday at home against Havelock. (WDN)
K-Tribe falls to Lynchburg
Lynchburg hit three home runs on its way to an 8-3 win against Kinston Friday night at City Stadium in Virginia.
Kent Sakamoto hits two homers and Pedro Alvarez added one for the Hillcats.
Ronald Rivas was the only K-Triber with multiple hits on the night going 2-for-4 in the game.
The K-Tribe stays on the road for game two against Lynchburg tonight. (KI)
