Mrs. Edna Thompson Perry, 76, a resident of 266 South Sixth Street, Aurora, NC died Wednesday May 6, 2009 at her home.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday May 9, 2009 at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington officiated by Rev. Lee Hendricks of Aseracare Hospice and Pastor David Linton.
Mrs. Perry was born in Wayne County on September 28, 1931 to the late John Daniel “Jack” and Lottie Adell Westbrook Thompson. She graduated from Swansboro High School, attended Moody Bible College for two years and obtained her nursing degree in California. Mrs. Perry served as a licensed practical nurse in California and Virginia for a number of years. On July 14, 1984, she married James Lloyd Perry who preceded her in death on February 27, 2001. Mrs. Perry was a member of the Aurora Church of God.
Mrs. Perry is survived by a daughter: Reba E. Powell and husband William of Aurora, two sons: Ronnie H. Trager and wife Lisa of Windsor, VA, and Gary O’Neal and wife Ellen of Farmville and a step-son: James Perry of Alaska. She is survived by twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by a son: Micah Shannon O’Neal, a brother: John D. Thompson and two sisters: Bobbie Compton and Betty Oakley.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday May 8, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington.
