Mr. Glenn Wayne “Shadow” Buck, age 60, a resident of 3754 Hwy 33 East, Chocowinity, NC died Monday June 1, 2009 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday June 4, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington officiated by Travis Boyd. Burial will follow in the Buck Family Cemetery at the home place. Earl Brock, Ronnie Keel, David Davenport, Donald Davenport, Mike Hill and Scott Grimes will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Borden, Bobby Equils and Buddy Blake.
Mr. Glenn was born in Beaufort County on March 27, 1949 son of the late Ernest Bryan Buck and the late Viola Blanche Windley Buck Woolard. He attended Chocowinity High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He married the former Peggy Ann Shiflett on October 6, 1990 who survives. He was a self-employed truck driver in the logging field until his health forced his retirement. On the C B Radio he was known as the Shadow. Mr. Glenn was a former volunteer with Chocowinity Volunteer Fire Department where he served on its board of directors. He was a member of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Chocowinity.
Surviving along with his wife Peggy of the home are two sons: Clay Buck of Wilmington and Brandon Buck of Greenville; two step-sons: John “Randy” Tyson and his wife Susan of Washington and Jason Tyson and his wife Wendy of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters: Phyllis Ambrose and her husband Ed of Chocowinity and Ernestine Hurst and her husband Hal of Sparks, NV; three grandchildren, who were the apple of Big Papa’s eyes, Alex Tyson, Aaron Mobley and Samantha Mobley all of Washington; adopted family: Big Tom and Betsy McLain of Greenville; adopted sons: David and Donald Davenport of Norfolk, VA; adopted brother: Keith Davenport of Chesapeake, VA and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday June 3, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home.
