James A. Mason 1949 – 2009

James Allen “Jimmy” Mason, 60, of 6068 Quarter Road, Swan Quarter died Sunday, June 7, 2009, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
Born in Beaufort County, April 10, 1949, he was the son of the late Jack N. and Mary Hopkins Mason. He was a graduate of Mattamuskeet School and also of North Carolina School of Automation in Greensboro where he studied Business Data Processing and Computer Programming. He served in the U. S. Army and was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in 1971. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent his working years as a commercial fisherman. He was a member of the Sladesville Hunting Club and he was always proud of his accomplishments in gardening..
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the graveside in Soule Cemetery. Steve Bryan will officiate.
Surviving are his wife, Pamela Cuthrell Mason; a son, Brett A. Mason of Swan Quarter and his special friend, Dasha Baldwin; a daughter, Nikki M. Williams and her husband, Joey of Grimesland; two brothers, Jack N. Mason, Jr. and wife, Ann of Winterville and Phil Mason and wife, Juanita of Belhaven; a grandson, Allen Mason and a step-granddaughter, Bailey Williams.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to Swan Quarter Volunteer Fire Department, 25 Oyster Creek Road, Swan Quarter, NC 27885.
Friends may visit with the family at Bryan Funeral Service on Monday evening, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home.
