Summer Festival events spread over waterfront|Annual bash includes fireworks display Friday

Washingtons 26th annual Summer Festival comes to the waterfront Friday and Saturday.
The festival organized by the Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.
One Summer Festival information booth, which also serves as the festivals T-shirt booth and lost-and-found, will be located at the corner of Stewart Parkway and Respess Street. Until the festival begins, festival T-shirts, including womens tank-top T-shirts, may be purchased at the chamber office on Stewart Parkway.
The other information booth is located in the chambers parking lot at the intersection of South Market Street, Stewart Parkway and Water Street.
No animals except service animals are allowed downtown during the festival.
Parking for handicapped people is available at the Wachovia parking lot off South Market Street.

Friday
• Festival opens 5 p.m., Stewart Parkway.
• Michaels Amusements (rides and games), 5 to 10 p.m., green space west of N.C. Estuarium.
• PCS Phosphate fossil search, 5 to 8 p.m., west end of Stewart Parkway.
• Governors Highway Safety Program simulators, 5 to 9:30 p.m., east end of Stewart Parkway.
• Public Power plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, 5 to 9:30 p.m., east end of Stewart Parkway.
• Rock climbing wall, 5 to 9:30 p.m., west end of Stewart Parkway.
• Beer garden, 5 to 9:30 p.m., main stage parking area at corner of Respess and Stewart Parkway.
• The 360 Degrees Band, 7 to 10 p.m., PCS Phosphate main stage.
• Fireworks, 9 p.m., Stewart Parkway.
• Festival closes at 10 p.m.
Saturday
• Festival opens 9 a.m., Stewart Parkway.
