The Washington Lady Pam Pack softball team had four players on the All-Coastal Conference team.
The Lady Pack advanced to the third round of the state playoffs for the third consecutive year.
The Lady Pam Pack, which went 16-7 overall, finished second in the Coastal standings. Washington beat White Oak (16-0) and Northern Nash (5-0) in the first two rounds of the NCHSAA Class 3-A state playoffs, before falling 1-0 to Charles B. Aycock in the third round.
Senior Charity Watson, senior Brittany Bryant, junior Hayley Stowe and sophomore Kristi Wood, who helped lead Washington to the third round for the second straight year, earned all-conference honors.
“I was very pleased with our season,” Lady Pack coach Doug Whitehead said. “These four players led our team in hitting. We will greatly miss Charity and Brittany (and seniors Kayla Spain and Sarah Mayo), next year.
“I look forward to Hayley and Kristi returning next year to lead us to the conference championship.”
Watson was solid on the mound and in the batter’s box.
The future Pitt Community College pitcher went 16-7 with a sparkling 0.33 ERA. She recorded 359 strikeouts, had 14 shutouts, tossed one perfect game, fired three no-hitters and 11 one-hitters.
Watson, who clobbered a home run, led the Lady Pack with her .383 batting average.
Wood, Washington’s leadoff batter and solid second baseman, hit .308.
Stowe, the Lady Pack’s superb catcher, hit .290.
Bryant, who hit .235, was splendid in fielding her third-base position.
