Mrs. Patricia Jackson “Winkie” Lewis, age 67, a resident of Washington died Friday June 19, 2009 at her home.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday June 24, 2009 at First Free Will Baptist Church of Washington officiated by Rev. Mike Gladson and Rev. Ken Cash. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Raymond Jackson, Daniel Lewis, John Scott Ratcliffe, John Ratcliffe, Eric Ratcliffe, Brian Ingalls, Randy Varni and Travis Sadler will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Winkie was born in Washington on September 27, 1941 daughter of the late Ottis “Pat” Jackson and the late Verna Belle Jones Jackson. She was a 1959 graduate of Washington High School. Mrs. Winkie married Raymond Allen Lewis, Jr. on June 25, 1960 who preceded her in death on January 13, 2006. She was a bookkeeper with Pamlico Internal Medicine until her retirement. Mrs. Winkie was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Washington.
Survivors include a son: Raymond “Allen” Lewis, III and his wife Tammy of Washington; a daughter: Sharon Lewis Phillips and her husband Joseph Phillips, II of Greenville and two granddaughters: Brandi Nichole Lewis and Casey Leigh-Ann Lewis. Mrs. Winkie was preceded in death by a brother: Thomas Jackson.
The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday June 23, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home.
