Mrs. Mary Alice Sawyer Waters, age 70, a resident of 3770 N. Bay Ave. Crystal River, Florida died Monday June 29, 2009 at Seven Rivers Regional Hospital.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Sunday July 5, 2009 at Waters Family Cemetery and will be conducted by Derik Davis.
Mrs. Waters was born in Perquimans County on July 31, 1938 to the late Edgar and Mary Davis Sawyer. On December 27, 1955 she married Dalton Lewis Waters who preceded her in death on June 23, 2001. She was retired as a civil servant with the United States Navy where she served as a computer programmer and also held other various jobs throughout her life. Mrs. Waters was a member of the WBT, Women’s Bassmaster’s Tour.
Survivors include three sons: Lewis Waters and wife Rita of Edenton, NC, James Waters of Chesapeake, VA, Timothy Waters and wife Lori of Monroe, NC, three brothers: Billy Sawyer, Ed Sawyer, Julian Sawyer, two sisters: Myrtle May, Gladys Davis, six grandchildren: James Waters, Chris Waters, Myriah Waters, Fawn Waters, Jacob Waters, Rachel Parkman and two great grandchildren Mia and Mya Velazco. She was preceded in death by one brother: Paul Sawyer.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the Pinetown Ruritan Building.
