Mr. Charles Lindbergh “Chip” Baker, Jr., age 53, a resident of 219 Pierce Street, Washington died Thursday July 9, 2009.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday July 12, 2009 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Washington officiated by Mike Chandler and Carnell Williams. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Fred Watkins, III, Wayne Watkins, Billy Watkins, Danny Swain, Tyler Watkins and Fred Watkins, IV will serve as pallbearers. Trey Smith, Danny Baker and Ryal Watkins will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Chip was born in Rockingham County on August 7, 1955, son of Charles L. Baker, Sr. and Merle Donahue Baker. He was self-employed in the cleaning and maintenance business. He was previously employed at various businesses including Family Dollar, Hamilton Beach, Mason Lumber and Bonny Products. He was baptized at the First Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother: Luther “Jack” Baker of Washington; his sister: Charita Lynn Baker of Washington and his special niece: Andrea McLawhorn.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home of his parents located at 110 Landon Drive, Washington.
