Mrs. Nancy Dortress Elks Smith, Age 67, a resident of 1823 West Bear Grass Road, Williamston, NC, died Saturday August 8, 2009 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday August 10, 2009 at Alligood Church of God officiated by Pastor Phillip Jethro. Burial will follow in the Elks Cemetery. Troy Pinkham, Ken Harris, Dale Everette, Doug Barber, Scott Everette, Tyler Williams, Howard Everette and Lee Pinkham will serve as pallbearers. Cody Pinkham will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Mrs. Smith was born on November 28, 1941 daughter of the late Ervin Elks and Gladys Crisp Elks. She attended Chocowinity Schools and was retired from Stanadyne, where she worked as an inspector. Mrs. Smith was a devoted Christian and member of the Alligood Church of God. Mrs. Smith shared her love for her Lord and Savior, her children, other family members and friends throughout her life.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons: Lacy Williams and wife Rita Woolard Williams of Washington, Steve Williams and wife Dara Harper Williams of Washington, three daughters: Ann Williams Harris and husband Ken of Washington, Libbie Williams Everette and husband Dale of Washington and Valinda Somers Pinkham and husband Troy of Washington, two brothers: Ricks Elks and Medfred Elks both of Chocowinity, two sisters: Ollie Jay Allen of Pantego and Lisa Elks of Florida.
In addition to Mrs. Smith’s grandchildren that are serving as pallbearers, she is survived by Dawn Linnen, Morgan Williams, Anna Everette and Michael Williams.
Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her parents, a brother: Ashley M. Elks and a granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Everette.
The family will receive friends on Sunday August 9, 2009 from 6:00-8:00PM at the Alligood Church of God and other times at her home.
