Call the Pamlico Opry a success, thanks to a cooperative effort involving the Beaufort County Traditional Music Association and the Turnage Theater.
Dont forget that the Beaufort County Arts Council, under the leadership of Executive Director Joey Toler, provides administrative support for the association. Perhaps Tolers words about Pamlico Opry best describe what Pamlico Opry accomplished this summer. The following words were penned by Toler in a news release about the Pamlico Opry season:
The goals established at the beginning of the season were to provide affordable family entertainment, showcase local and regional talent and enhance the accessibility of the Turnage Theater to the community. The Pamlico Opry has successfully achieved these worthy goals. Each show in the series has presented high quality performances showcasing talent from the community. The Pamlico Opry introduced the restored Turnage Theater to folks in Beaufort County and beyond that had not previously attended shows at the theater.
The Pamlico Opry happened because two very different groups, the staff of the Turnage Theater and the volunteers of the Beaufort County Traditional Music Association chose to work together to serve the community. The shows have also been successful because performers agreed to participate at modest compensation rates, sponsors agreed to support the shows, volunteers stepped up to help with whatever tasks needed doing, and folks bought tickets and came to see the shows. The Pamlico Opry truly represents the good that can come about when people come together and work selflessly and generously for the good of their community.
We couldnt have said it better ourselves.
But what we can say is Thanks a lot to the BCTMA, Turnage Theater and BCAC for their efforts to bring such entertainment to the community and to the community for supporting those efforts.
Whether its Shakespeare, classic films or a bushel full of banjos, the Turnage Theater and its partners are offering something for almost everyone.
Thats entertainment.
