Daniels rushes to new record|RB gallops for 213 yards, two TDs in win

Travis Daniels rushed for a school-record 213 yards to lead the UNC-Pembroke Braves to a 41-34 double-overtime victory against the No. 24 Fayetteville State Broncos on Saturday night.
Daniels, a former standout at Washington High School, picked up the 213 yards on 25 carries. The sophomore scored on an 89-yard run in the fourth quarter and a 3-yard burst in the third quarter.
Daniels also had one catch for 16 yards. His 229 all-purpose yards was also a school record.
Former Plymouth High School star William Hunt, a defensive lineman with the Broncos, had two tackles in his first college game.
OTHER ATHLETES
Jamont Jones had three kickoff returns for 74 yards (24.7 average), including a long of 30 yards, and one punt return for four yards in Lenoir-Rhyne’s 21-14 win over Shorter in Saturday night’s season opener.
Jones is a former standout at Washington High School.
Greg Palmer had three tackles, including a sack, in Chowan’s 36-21 loss to Albany State in Thursday’s season opener.
Palmer, a co-captain with Chowan, is a former standout at Northside High School.
Stephen Cullop made his debut in goal with the Waldorf Warriors. The former Terra Ceia standout, a freshman at Waldorf, had one save and one goal allowed in Dordt College’s 6-2 win over Waldorf on Saturday.
Cullop played 13 minutes.
