Mrs. Martha Copeland Satterthwaite, 75, of Plymouth died Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at her residence.
Born December 1, 1933, in Perquimans County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Copeland and Mabel Stallings Copeland and was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Thomas Satterthwaite; brothers, Carey Copeland and Hervy Copeland. Mrs. Satterthwaite was a retired sales associate with Belk-Tylers and member of Zion’s Chapel Church of Christ.
Her family includes her daughters, Judy S. Wobbleton and husband Danny of Plymouth, N.C., and Martha S. Hobby and husband Ed of Winterville, N.C.; son, Joe Satterthwaite and wife Diane of Plymouth, N.C.; sister, Dorothy C. States of Norfolk, Va. and brother, Edward Copeland of Virginia Beach, Va.; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Friday, September 18, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Zion’s Chapel Church of Christ, Roper, with Mark Wilmoth officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 17, 2009, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Zion’s Chapel Church of Christ and other times at the residence. Arrangements are by Maitland Memorial Chapel, Plymouth.
