Mrs. Audrey Jean Coker Smith, a Tarboro resident, died Sunday at her home with her family by her side.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Calvin Lee and the Rev. Sonny Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years the Rev. Selby A. Smith Jr.; a son, Alvin Wayne Smith; a daughter, Robin Lou Smith.
She was a loving mother and wife. She was supporting and dedicated to the Rev. Smith with his church and church family and ministry throughout the years.
Jean is survived by a loving family including daughters Kathy Jackson and husband, Roy, Rocky Mount; Bonnie Lou Smith, Tarboro; sons Bruce Smith and wife, Joann, Tarboro; Ricky Joe Smith and wife, Michelle, Tarboro; a sister, Faye Batts and husband Howard, Raleigh; a brother; William Mose Coker and wife Colleen, Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Alvin Wayne Smith Jr., Kenneth Wayne “Punk” Smith, Timothy Wayne ”Runt” Smith, Bruce Alan Smith Jr., Sheila Smith, Chris Smith, Kimberly Smith, Shannon Collins and R.J. Jackson; stepgrandchildren, D. L., Bud, Melissa, Jerry and Courtney; 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Carlisle Funeral Home, Tarboro, Tuesday, 7-9 p.m.
