Jessie Ray Jackson, 81, of 2334 Belltown Road, Williamston, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, in Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A funeral will be held Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 at 11 AM with Rev. Matt Fahy and Rev. Roger Leggett and Dr. Wayne Ellis officiating at Cedar Branch Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 2334 Belltown Road, Williamston, NC.
Mr. Jackson was born Oct. 28, 1928 in Beaufort County. He was the son of the late Herman Jackson and the late Mary Beacham. He was a member of Cedar Branch Baptist Church. On June 17, 1956 he married Polly Williams Jackson, who died Nov. 30, 1993. Survivors include daughter Tammy Jackson, Williamston; son Carlton Jackson and wife Katie of Greensboro; sister Mary Bell Modlin of Jamesville; grandchildren Shaun Jackson and Christina Wienke, Columbus Ohio, Nate Van De Venter and wife Jewel of Mooresville, Rachel Van De Venter, Greensboro and Jacey Van De Venter of Mooresville; great-grandchildren, True Van De Venter and Carleigh Belle Van De Venter; several nieces, cousins and nephews and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Arrangements are by Biggs Funeral Home of Williamston.
