Vanceboro, NC — Mr. Melton Olin Lewis, 75, died Friday, January 1, 2010 at his home.
The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel by Evangelist Paul Jackson. Burial will follow in New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Lewis was a lifelong resident of Craven County. He was employed with A. G. Lassiter Equipment Company for 39 years, retiring in 2008. He attended the Vanceboro Free Will Holiness Church and for the past ten years had been a dedicated member of the Gospel Group Wings.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ernest, Earl, Dan and Raymond; a son, Randy and a grandson, William.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean S. Lewis; a son, Gary C. Lewis and wife, Teresa, of Blounts Creek, a daughter, Chelcie Jean Lewis Tomasino and husband, Robert, of Vanceboro; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Madeline L. Chandler; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home Monday from 7 – 9 p.m.
