Marie Moore Morrow

Mrs. Marie Moore Morrow, age 93, a resident of Springmoor Retirement Center, Raleigh, died Sunday, January 3, 2010 at her home.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Oakdale Cemetery followed by a service in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Phyllis Mayo officiating. Following the service the family will receive friends at Hillside Funeral Service. 
Mrs. Morrow was born in Beaufort County on December 12, 1916 to Edmund Hoyt and Marie Louise Archbell Moore. She lived in Washington most of her life except for a brief time during WWII. Marie married James H. Morrow on November 9, 1940 who preceded her in death on December 29, 1998. She graduated from Washington High School, Women’s College (UNC-G) and East Carolina University. Marie worked for Beaufort County Schools for a number of years then attended ECU where she received a master’s degree in library science. Following graduation she worked as a librarian at schools in Chocowinity and at Washington High School. After retirement she moved to Chapel Hill for several years then moved to Springmoor Retirement Center in Raleigh. Marie was an active volunteer at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill and in the Springmoor Library until her eyesight failed. While in Washington she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the D.A.R. and the O’Henry Book Club. She was also a member of University Presbyterian church in Chapel Hill and White Memorial Church in Raleigh.
She is survived by son, Thomas A. (Tom) Morrow and wife Evelyn of Washington and their children, Fred Fuller and wife Jenny and great grand sons Cody and Jake Fuller all of Rocky Mount and Thom Morrow and wife Monique of Anderson Creek, Spring Lake, NC and great granddaughters Caroline, Macon and Emma; son James K. (Jerry) Morrow and wife Joanne of Manhatten Beach, CA and grandsons Ryan and Michael of the home, grandson Trent Morrow and wife Kirsten and great grandson Ben of Indian Harbor Beach, FL; and daughter Harriet M. Joslin and husband Dev of Monteverde, Costa Rica, grandson Bryan and wife Kate of San Diego, CA and grandson Aaron and wife Rosileia of Pipa, Brazil.
