Mrs. Annie Myrtle Mills Warren, age 93, a former resident of 2333 Old New Bern Rd., Chocowinity, died Thursday morning, February 11, 2010 at Britthaven of Washington.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and will be conducted by Rev. Henry Horne. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Gray Burbage, Jamie Warren, Tracy Warren, Michael Warren, Davey Ann Burbage and Jessica Warren will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Warren was born in Beaufort County on November 8, 1916 to the late Nabe and Laura Ann Dudley Mills. On June 8, 1940 she married Jasper Garfield Warren who preceded her in death on November 21, 1983. She was a 1936 graduate of Chocowinity High School and graduate of Tayloe Hospital Nursing School. She was a registered nurse with Tayloe Hospital, nursing supervisor with Beaufort County Hospital, worked in Dr. Pugh’s office and was the Beaufort County School nurse for Pinetown, Aurora and Chocowinity. Mrs. Warren was a member of the American Nursing Association, Beaufort County Senior Citizen Club, the Over 80 Club and Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. In 1999 Beaufort County Farm Bureau honored her by dedicating their yearbook to her.
Survivors include two sons, William Warren and wife Carol of Chocowinity, Sam Warren and wife Pam of Elizabethtown, NC; daughter-in-law, Carol Warren of Washington; one sister, Doris Bonner of Ayden, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Warren, one brother, Marvin Mills and four sisters, Viola Mooring, Mamie Ruth Beddard, Ruby Mooring and Loretta Nelson.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home of William and Carol Warren, 2283 Old New Bern Rd., Chocowinity, NC.
