Mrs. Robbie Dean Dixon Burbage, age 81, a resident of 819 Island View Road, Bath died Tuesday March 9, 2010 at Autumnfield of Belhaven.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday March 11, 2010 at St. Clairs Church of Christ, Bath officiated by Craig Hagen and Rev. Dave Pryor. Pallbearers will be Sean Burbage, Chris Burbage, Brian Burbage, Ryan Godsell, Rick Godley and Rory Godsell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Burbage was born in Pitt County on March 31, 1928 daughter of the late James Edward Dixon and the late Kizzie Victoria McGowan Dixon. She was a graduate of the Greenville City Schools and continued her education to earn a certificate in Cosmetology. She married Philip Hobson Burbage on January 18, 1947 who survives. Mrs. Burbage was a beautician, a sales associate with Thalhimers Department Store in Norfolk, VA and a homemaker. She was a member of the Beaufort County Genealogy Society where she was a past president and a member of St. Clairs Church of Christ. Mrs. Burbage was a past member of Kempsville Church of Christ in Virginia Beach, VA.
Surviving along with her husband Philip of the home are four sons: P. Edward Burbage and wife Karen of Charleston, SC, Barry Burbage and wife Beth of Baltimore, MD, Steve Burbage of Virginia Beach and Tom Burbage and wife Carolyn of Sky Top, PA; a daughter: Robin Godsell and husband Randy of Belhaven; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Mrs. Burbage was preceded in death by two daughters: Bonnie B. Speece and Becky Burbage; a grandchild: Benton French Speece, III; two brothers: James Dixon and Robert Dixon; three sisters: Lillie Mae Gardner, Gaynelle Dixon and Erma Lee Carter.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday March 10, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and other times at the home.
