Mrs. Brenda Gail Harris Mayo, age 48, a resident of 322 South Wedgewood Drive, Washington died Thursday, March 11, 2010 University Health Systems Inpatient Hospice, Greenville, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Servant Michael Huppmann officiating.
The family will receive friends today from 1 p.m. until the service hour at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington, NC.
Mrs. Mayo was born in Beaufort County on July 7, 1961 to Virgil Thomas Harris who preceded her in death and Betty Crawford Harris who survives. Brenda graduated from Washington High School in 1980 and worked as an Administrative Clerk for the Beaufort County Clerk of Court for seven years until her health forced her to retire. On June 23, 1989 she married Carl E. Mayo. Brenda was a devoted wife, mother and daughter who had never met a stranger. She had a tremendous love for the water, especially the river and the ocean. Brenda lived a Christian life very devoted to serving her Lord and Savior.
In addition to her husband and mother she is survived by her daughter, Sarah Logan Mayo and her son, Dylan Ryan Mayo both of Washington, her sister, Susan Harris Manning and husband Buster of Pantego, her brother, Thomas E. Harris and wife Marcia of Washington, four nephews, one niece, a special friend Mr. Billy and her loving dog “Buddy”.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Brenda’s memory to Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, 1209 Brown Street, Washington, NC 27889.
