WILLIAMSTON — Janet Walston Lilley, 69, died Monday, March 29, 2010 at her home. The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. David Anderson and Rev. Jim Drake officiating; burial will follow at Tice Cemetery.
Janet was born in Buncombe County on May 30, 1940 to the late Robert and Kathryn Baum Walston. She was retired from the Martin County Board of Education where she had served as secretary with the Williamston Primary School for several years. She was a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years and was very active in the Easter Drama program. She also enjoyed her Thursday Morning Breakfast Group and her time at the beach with family and friends.
On June 20, 1959 she married Dale Lilley who survives. Survivors in addition to her husband are daughter Christy Lilley of Beaufort, son Mike Lilley and wife Holly of Lafayette, Louisiana, brother John Walston of Wilson, and grandchildren Cody Sebille, Brittany Sebille, and Kathryn Lilley.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary at the Piney Grove Baptist Church and other times at the residence 1222 Meadow Branch Road.
