Mr. Gene McDonald Moore, age 78, a resident of 207 Alderson Road, Washington died Monday, March 29, 2010 at Ridgewood Manor.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday April 2, 2010 at Raleigh Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Randall Lolley.
Mr. Moore was born in Johnston County on February 29, 1929 son of the late Dave Moore and the late Madie Mooneyham Moore. He attended Wake County schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Moore worked as the manager of the Regional Distribution Center for Belk Stores, Inc. located in Mooresville, NC. He retired in 1994 after 28 years of service.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald “Ronnie” James Moore of Raleigh and Ricky “Rick” McDonald Moore of Washington; one sister, Anne Moore Wilkins of Wake County; one granddaughter, Meredith Moore Steadman and husband Cary Lee Steadman of Chesapeake, VA; and one great-granddaughter, Kathryn Blair Steadman of Chesapeake, VA.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the home of Rick Moore located at 207 Alderson Road, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, General Fund, 1209 Brown Street, Washington, NC 27889.
