The classic “Into the Woods” will be presented April 30 and May 1 at Northside High School.
Show time is 7 p.m. each night in the NHS auditorium.
Staging a spring musical is a local tradition at Northside and Washington high schools. Last month, WHS presented “Anything Goes.”
“Into the Woods” features a fairy-tale setting, spotlighting a village baker and his wife eager to have a child. A witch issues specific instructions that must be met in order for that wish to come true. The musical follows the progress of the couple’s quest as they encounter familiar faces from favorite childhood stories.
The show — described as “fun and whimsical” in a Beaufort County Schools news release — features music from award-winning composer Stephen Sondheim. He has won an Academy Award, several Tony Awards, multiple Grammy Awards and Pulitzer Prize for music.
“Into the Woods” cast members are Alex Umfleet, narrator; Hayley Niser, Jack; Josh Brookins, baker; Shannon Cuthrell, baker’s wife; Liza Paul, Cinderella’s stepmother; Ariel Pinkham, Lucinda; Erika Branch, Florinda; Elizabeth Williams, Little Red Riding Hood; Victoria Bitar, Cinderella’s mother; Jonathan Williams, wolf; Hayley Jones, Rapunzel; Joseph Foster, Cinderella’s prince; Tiffany Oliver, Milky White; Caitlin Hoagland, Cinderella; Casey Clodfelter, Jack’s mother; Josh Ginn, Cinderella’s father; Beth Alligood, witch; Clay Asby, mysterious man; Tiffany LaBarge, Granny; Jonah Taylor, Rapunzel’s prince; and Michael Harris, steward.
