Mrs. Thomsa Emory Mayo, 83, of 9074 U.S. Highway 264, Swan Quarter, The Rose Bay Community, died late Friday, April 9, 2010, at Cross Creek Health Care Center in Swan Quarter.
Born in Hyde County, April 26, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Zeb Benson and Florida Harris Mayo. She was married to Troy W. Mayo who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and avid gardener and took great pride in her home and yard.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the family plot in Soule Cemetery. Steve Bryan will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
Surviving are two sons, Troy Lane Mayo and friend, Helga Jarvis, Gary B. Mayo and wife, Elaine all of Scranton; a daughter, Brenda M. Armstrong of Manteo; a brother, A. Bennett Emory and wife, Kay of Swan Quarter; a sister, Joan E. Young of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; grandchildren Jason Mayo, Nikie Mayo, John Armstrong and Zeb Mayo; a great-grandson, Tucker Mayo.
Mrs. Mayo was also preceded in death by two brothers, Vance Emory and D. Wadell Emory and a sister, Jessie E. Brown.
