Mrs. Dora Lee Edwards Hill Walker, age 89, a resident of Haw Branch Road, Chocowinity went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 12, 2010. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known by her family and community as a wonderful cook, devoted friend and adopted grandmother by many.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Haw Branch Church of Christ with Jason Kirkman, Kent Gurganus and Bobby Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Edwards Cemetery, Chocowinity. The elders and deacons of Haw Branch Church of Christ will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 14, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington, NC.
Mrs. Walker was born in Beaufort County on August 15, 1920 to Fenner Augustus and Sadie Godley Edwards. Dora was a homemaker and lifelong resident of Beaufort County. She married Clyde Hill who preceded her in death on June 19, 1979 and later married Rufus Walker who preceded her in death on April 1, 2000.
Surviving are her sons, Rayvon Hill and wife Mary Ellen of Macon, GA, Bruce Hill and wife Barbara of Raleigh, NC and Don Hill and wife Pam of Chocowinity, NC, her daughter, Judy Hill Adams and husband Billy of Raleigh, NC, her brothers, Hubert, Edward Ray and Roy Edwards, her grandchildren, Greg, Lisa, Tim, Chris, Cameron and Justin Hill, and great-grandchildren Jennifer, Jessica, Joanna and Walker Hill.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Haw Branch Church of Christ Building Fund, 1501 Haw Branch Road, Chocowinity, NC 27817
