Mr. William Luther Cox, age 87, formerly of Aurora, Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at South Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Aurora, conducted by Rev. Phillip Lewis and Rev. Terry Lewis. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Mr. Cox was born in the Ransomville community of Beaufort County on July 10, 1922. He worked as a commercial fisherman and retired as a welder with Norfolk Shipbuilding and Dry Dock. Mr. Cox was a member of the Lowland Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mr. Cox was married to the former Margaret Elizabeth Hopkins, who preceded him in death on October 17, 1983. He later married Bessie Cox, who also preceded him in death.
Survivors include five sons, Luther “Wayne” Cox, “Terry” Arnold Cox and Carroll Glenn Cox all of Aurora; Myron Kent Cox of Virginia Beach, VA and Gary Lee Cox of Chesapeake, VA.; half brother, Forest Cox of Ransomville; six grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his spouses, Mr. Cox was preceded in death by three sisters, Cora Mae Foster, Mollie Belle Harris, Katie Cox Carawan and two brothers, Johnnie Cox and H.L. Cox.
The family will receive friends at the home of his son, Terry Cox, 50 Vinegar Hill Road, Aurora.
