Pack boys take fourth in conference meet|Brown comes up big for WHS track

WEST CARTERET — The Washington Pam Pack boys finished in fourth place in the Coastal Conference track meet, held at West Carteret High School.
Josh Brown earned first place in both the 110-meter high hurdles (14.60 seconds) and 300-meter hurdles (41.38). He also placed fifth in the triple jump (39 feet, 10 inches).
Kevin Chapman and Amiar Johnson tied for first in the shot put (47-6).
Raheem Patterson finished second in the 200-meter dash (22.40).
William Ellegor captured third in the long jump (20-5) and fourth in the triple jump (40-4).
Malik Moore was third in the high jump (5-8) and fifth in the 100 hurdles (16.60).
In the relays events, Washington’s 800 team (1:32.56) took third, the 400 team (44.59) was fourth and the 3,200 team (9:10) fourth.
The Pack finished with 80 points. White Oak won with 138 points, followed by West Carteret (111), Havelock (98), Washington, West Craven (49), Jacksonville (44), D.H. Conley (21) and South Central (16).
Washington’s girls finished in eighth.
The Pam Pack’s 400-meter relay team placed fourth, finishing in 52.77 seconds.
Janelle Griffin took fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.29) and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles (59.34).
Yasmine Horton finished in sixth place in the 100-meter dash (13.22).
Haley Hiatt finished seventh in the 400 (1:06.22). She also took eighth in the discus (70-10).
South Central won the girls meet. White Oak finished second and Jacksonville was third.
The regional meet will be held May 15 at Nash Central High School.
