BEAR GRASS, N.C. — Vader Harrison Hodges, 77, of 6743 West Bear Grass Road, passed away at home Friday, May 14, 2010.
She was born September 18, 1932 to William Roy and Lavinia Harrison of Bear Grass. On September 23, 1950, she married Thad L. Hodges, who preceded her in death on October 28, 1975.
She was a devoted homemaker and expert seamstress. After the death of her husband, Vader worked for Cobb’s Restaurant for 24 years, beginning at the Town &Country Restaurant.
Until the end of her life, Vader was a faithful working member of the Bear Grass Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Bobbie Jean Hodges of Hendersonville; Vickie Hodges Green and husband Ed also of Hendersonville; Phil Hodges and wife Lisa of Bear Grass; Linda Biggs and husband Greg of Bear Grass; Sharon Godard and husband Bob, also of Bear Grass. Vader is survived by eight grandchildren; Matthew Green, Brian Hodges, Caroline Hodges, Rachel Hodges, Amanda Leggett and husband Justin, Justin Edwards, Eric Godard and wife Jessica and Luke Godard and great-granddaughter, Hannah Godard.
Survivors include her sisters, Rachel Coltrain and Becky Boyd and husband Linny; her sister-in-law, Sadie Harrison. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ben Harrison.
Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home and other times at her residence. The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Bear Grass Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Garland Vick and Elder Harold Pittman officiating; burial will follow at Martin Memorial Gardens.
Flowers are welcome, however memorials may be made to the Bear Grass Primitive Baptist Church in care of her son, Phil Hodges, 1260 Green Acres Rd, Williamston, NC 27892.
