Cherry L. Nixon 1969-2010

Cherry Daye Lockamy Nixon, 40, of 4597 Piney Woods Road, Fairfield, died on Friday, May 28, 2010 at her home.
Born in Lenoir County on July 19, 1969, she was the daughter of Alfred H. and Linda Cherry Lockamy who survive. She was a graduate of Mattamuskeet School in the Class of 1987. She received her B.S. degree in English from East Carolina University in 1995 and had worked on her master’s degree. Her entire teaching career was in the Columbia Middle School and Columbia High School where she also served as librarian for one year. She was a member of Fairfield Church of Christ.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Madge Van Horne Auditorium on the campus of Columbia High School. Steve Bryan and Mrs. Marcia Manning will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.
Surviving are her husband, Donald L. Nixon; a son, Jacob Earl Nixon of the home; her parents, Alfred H. and Linda Cherry Lockamy of Winterville; a brother, Christian A. Lockamy of Greenville and her maternal grandmother, Edith D. Cherry of Greenville.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to Mother’s Helper Day Care Center, 4647 N. C. Highway 94-North, Columbia NC 27925.
