Mr. Joseph Biggs Harrison, age 77, a resident of 217 Magnolia Drive, Pamlico Village, Washington, died Friday, May 28, 2010 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington, conducted by Carl Smith, Jr.
Mr. Harrison was born in Martin County on March 10, 1933. He was the son of Mamie Elizabeth Bass Harrison and the late Earl Harrison. Mr. Harrison was a retired mechanic with Wrangler Jeans in Windsor. He was a retired U.S. Air Force Veteran serving from 1950 to 1972. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge, the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the National Association of Air Force Retirees. He was an active member of the Bojangles Coffee Club.
On September 12, 1992, Mr. Harrison married the former Ellen Haislip, who survives.
Surviving with his wife are his mother, Mamie Elizabeth Bass Harrison of Washington; two daughters, Diane Harrison of Waynesboro, VA., Carla H. Morris and husband, Bobby Morris of Greensboro, N.C.; four granddaughters, Amy E. Tripp of Waynesboro, VA., Shayna M. Morris, Julia P. Morris and Marissa Joellen Morris all of Greensboro; two brothers, Billy Harrison of Washington, Ralph Harrison of Greenville; one sister, Edna Sisk of Washington; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by his father, Earl Harrison; his daughter, Michelle Dawn Hardison and his sister, Susie Smith.
