Mr. James Orville Reynolds, 65, of Creswell died Sunday, May 30, 2010 at his residence.
Born December 28, 1944 in Tyrrell County, he was the son of the late James William Reynolds and Margaret Simmons Reynolds and was preceded in death by his sister, Betty R. Sawyer; brother, Billy F. Reynolds; brother-in-law, Roy Sawyer and nephew, Douglas Sawyer. James was a self-employed diesel mechanic and member of Sound Side Free Will Baptist Church. He was a Vietnam veteran with the U.S. Army, former member of the Tyrrell County Volunteer Fire Department, member of Glynn T. Cahoon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and past commander of American Legion Post 182.
His family includes his wife, Annette Davenport Reynolds of Creswell, N.C.; daughter, Lynn R. Swett and husband Marty of Creswell, N.C.; sister, Peggy R. Sawyer of Columbia, N.C.; brothers, Bobby R. Reynolds of Norfolk, Va., Royce L. Reynolds, Eddie G. Reynolds, Christopher L. Reynolds all of Columbia, N.C., Michael D. Reynolds of Walstonburg, N.C. and granddaughter, Alanna Swett.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell with Reverend Royce Reynolds and Reverend Joe Wynns officiating. Burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens with military honors. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell and other times at the residence. Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
