The courts of Washington Racquet Club were filled with senior players from across the state on Thursday and Friday.
“We were happy to offer our courts for play as part of the state clay court championships,” said Dale Peele, owner and director of the facility.
According to Peele, “It’s been fun to watch these seniors play. We’ve seen great tennis, great competition and great sportsmanship.”
Over 150 matches were played among seniors, ages 49 to 85, in the 3.5 to 4.5 tennis classifications. (The tennis rating system allows for competitive matches between players of similar skill within the specified age range.)
Washington was well-represented in the tournament with two teams.
