Mr. Albert Mitchell Jones, 82, of 200 East Palmetto Street, Creswell died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Martin General Hospital.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Friday at St. Mark AME Zion Church with Rev. Jay McNair officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Jones was born on Sept. 9, 1927 in Washington County. He was the son of the late Joseph Norman and Etta Jones. He was a member of St. Mark AME Zion Church serving as Preacher Steward and president of the Usher Board. He was a mechanic with Norfolk and Southern Railroad.
Survivors include his wife, Alverita Riddick Jones, of the home; five sons: Albert M. Jones, Jr., Landover, MD, Willie Joseph Jones, Louisa, VA, Perry Jones, Virginia Beach, VA, Frederick Jones and Neil Jones, both of Charlotte; three daughters: Allison Young, Lana Jones, Michelle Hudson, all of Charlotte; two brothers: Joe Willie Jones, Creswell, Malachi Brickhouse, Washington, DC; two sisters: Hattie Horton, Mary Louise Jones, both of Creswell, and twenty-nine grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at St. Mark AME Zion Church and other times at the home.
