Mr. Richard Donald Swain, age 50, a resident of 610 Main Street, Aurora, died Tuesday morning June 8, 2010 at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday June 11, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and will be conducted by Pastor John Carawan. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the funeral home.
Mr. Swain was born in Drew, Mississippi on February 9, 1960, son of Harvey Seaton Swain and Lorraine Harris Swain. He was employed in construction for many years as a crane operator. Mr. Swain was an outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman in local creeks and ponds. He also enjoyed searching for arrowheads. Mr. Swain was a former member of the Aurora Fire Department.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandson: Jacob Vanzandt; his brothers: Bill Swain and his wife, Kimberly of Aurora and David Swain and Rosie also of Aurora; his best friend: Charles Midyett and wife Karen of Aurora and his dog, Butch, his buddy.
The family will receive friends at the home of Donald's parents, Harvey and Lorraine Swain, 275 Spring Branch Rd., Aurora, NC 27806.
