Mr. Linwood O. McRoy
Mr. Linwood Oslen McRoy, age 79, a former resident of Old New Bern Road, Chocowinity, died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Beaufort County Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, Washington, conducted by Pastor Joshua Rager.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Chris McRoy, Donnie Brinson, Marty Alligood, Donny Woolard, Jesse Dixon and Robbie Chandler.
Mr. McRoy was born in Beaufort County on June 8, 1931. He was the son of the late Miles McRoy and Lossie Dixon McRoy. Mr. McRoy was a retired farmer. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Mr. McRoy was a member of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, V.F.W., D.V.A., and Barrington Hunting Club. He was an honorary member of the Southside Hunting Club.
On January 18, 1951, Mr. McRoy married the former Mary Hellen Woolard, who preceded him in death, September 7, 2008.
Mr. McRoy is survived by three sons, Michael McRoy and his wife, Ann, Gregory McRoy and his wife, Donna all of Chocowinity, Tracy McRoy of Blounts Creek; a sister, Faye M. Taylor of Chocowinity; four grandchildren; one great grandson and one great granddaughter.
In addition to his parents and his wife; Mr. McRoy was preceded in death by a brother, Edmond D. McRoy and a sister, Katie Denby.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington.
