Mrs. Dorothy Keech Williams, age 84, a resident of 417 Cemetery Road, Belhaven, died Wednesday June 16, 2010 at her home.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday June 18, 2010 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven, officiated by Kent Gurganus. Burial will follow in Oddfellow Cemetery.
Gene Waters, Wesley Waters, Steve Fails, David Cox, Ricky Radcliffe and Patrick Wayne will serve as pallbearers. Ruby Williams, Bub Watson, Jay and Pat Waters and Ricky Keech will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Williams was born in the community of Yeatesville on May 19, 1926, daughter of the late Cecil Atwood Keech Sr. and Addie Blanche Davenport Keech. She was a 1944 graduate of Pantego High School. On May 21, 1945, she married Harold L. Williams who preceded her in death on September 21, 1992. She was a cashier for the Colonial Store in Belhaven for 28+ years. Mrs. Williams was a member of the Belhaven Chapter of the Eastern Star for 25+ years, past charter member and secretary of the Good Sam Running Bears Camping Club, past charter member and the first president of Belhaven Fire Auxiliary; past charter member and president of the Lions Club and a member of Hunters Bridge Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Williams is preceded in death by her brothers; Dewey Keech and Jack Keech and her sister: Grace Waters. She is survived by her granddaughters; Molly Cooper-Coggins and her husband, Gary of Belhaven and Stephanie Gonzales; her great grandchildren: Brandon Joseph Cooper-Coggins, Cherrianne Cooper-Coggins, Austin Cooper-Coggins, and caregivers, Nancy and Joe Cooper of Belhaven; her aunt: Ruby Williams of Eden, NC; her nieces and nephews: Jay Waters, Ricky Keech, Cecil Keech, Faye Williams, Vickie Rawls, Jackie Wallace, Connie Watson and Judy Bridges.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday June 17, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven and other times at the home located at 417 Cemetery Road, Belhaven.
