Mrs. Virginia G. O’Carroll

Mrs. Virginia Gentry O’Carroll, age 82, a resident of 331 East 11th Street, Washington, died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Beaufort County Medical Center in Washington.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home, Washington conducted by Steve Hill and Mark Lilley. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Robbie Moore, Rodney Moore, Matt Crisp, Joseph Moore, Scott Chadwick and Chris Respess. Jordan Moore will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Mrs. O’Carroll was born in the Wilmar community of Craven County on November 28, 1927. She was the daughter of the late William Jackson Columbus Gentry and Daisy Williams Gentry. Mrs. O’Carroll was a homemaker. She was a Past Matron of Washington Chapter #7 of the Eastern Star and former member of the Shrinettes. Mrs. O’Carroll was a member of Haw Branch Church of Christ.
On September 10, 1948, she married John Wesley O’Carroll, who preceded her in death, August 12, 2000.
Mrs. O’Carroll is survived by two sons, John W. O’Carroll, Jr., Kevin R. O’Carroll and friend, Crystal O’Neal all of Washington; four daughters, Connie O’Carroll Moore and husband, Reid, Ann O’Carroll, Barbara O’Carroll VanLandingham and husband, Jim all of Washington, Lynne O’Carroll and fiancé Ken Willoughby of Ayden; two sisters, Arue Parker and husband Bernard of Jacksonville, FL and Carolyn Rouse and husband, Perry of Olympia, N.C.; one brother, Dennis Gentry of Wilmar; six grandchildren, Kimberly Moore, Robin Moore III and wife, Molly, Rodney B. Moore and wife, Susan, Matt Crisp III and wife, Kim, Jaime Crisp Chadwick and husband, Scott, Suzanne P. Respess and husband, Chris; 12 great grandchildren, Joseph, Jordan and Meghan Moore, Carson and Anna Reid Moore, Ainsley Moore, Cayman, Kyle, and Kinley Crisp, Asa Chadwick, Hailey and Hanna Grace Respess; brother in law, John Bradshaw and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. O’Carroll was preceded in death by one brother, Luther Ray Gentry, one sister, Betty Bradshaw, and one grandson, Alexander Thomas Howard.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home 331 East 11th Street, Washington.
