Emily Jeannette Elks Rowe, age 80, a resident of 1661 Mill Road, Chocowinity, NC died Wednesday June 23, 2010 at the Beaufort County Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday June 25, 2010 at Trinity Episcopal Church of Chocowinity officiated by The Reverend Jeremiah Day. Interment will be in Trinity Memorial Garden.
Mrs. Rowe was born in Beaufort County on August 18, 1929 daughter of the late Charlie Mason Elks and the late Emily Jeannette Cox Elks. She was a graduate of Chocowinity High School. Mrs. Rowe married Archie Grey Rowe, Sr. on March 8, 1953 who preceded her in death on October 25, 2008. She was a homemaker and an avid member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she was involved in many functions of the church.
Survivors include a son: Archie Grey Rowe, Jr. of Chocowinity; two daughters: Terri A. Rowe of Chocowinity and Dona S. Rowe of Washington; a sister: Dora Swanner of Washington and five grandchildren: Travis A. Sheppard, Ashton G. Hamilton, Victoria B. Hamilton, Leah M. Rowe and Mason G. Rowe.
The family will receive friends during a vigil from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday June 24, 2010 at the home, located at 1661 Mill Road, Chocowinity.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 332, Chocowinity, NC 27817.
