Elizabeth Boomer Basnight Butt, 90, of 21260 U.S. Hwy. 264, Swan Quarter died peacefully at her home on Monday, June 28, 2010.
Born in Hyde County, March 21, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Caleb S. and Rosalind Swindell Boomer. She was married to Douglas M. Butt who survives. She was a member of Soule United Methodist Church, and Soule United Methodist Women.
She was a homemaker and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Fairfield Chapter #247. She previously worked several years in the tax department for the County of Hyde.
Mrs. Butt was an avid basket maker, loved to press flowers and enjoyed working in her garden.
Funeral Services will be held at the graveside in Soule Cemetery on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Jerald Craddock will officiate.
In addition to her husband, surviving are four sons, William E. Basnight of Swan Quarter, Floyd B. Butt of Fairfield, John D. Butt of Mesa, AZ, David W. Butt of Charlotte, NC.; three daughters Marilynne J. Johnson of Durham, Jo Anne DiCessare of Greenville and Rebecca Jenkins of Benna VA; one brother Samuel Jay Boomer of Swan Quarter; one grandson Eddie G. Basnight of Swan Quarter; one great-granddaughter Laura E. Basnight.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter and other times at the home.
