Mr. Elvin Leigh, 78, of 1251 Spruill Town Road, Creswell, N.C., died Friday June 25, 2010 at Plumblee Nursing Center, Plymouth.
A funeral will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Saint Mary Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) with Bishop Dr. Robert D. Ross officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary cemetery.
Mr. Leigh was born on Oct. 27, 1931 in Washington County. He was the son of the late Edward Leigh and Odell Sykes Leigh. He was a member of St. Mary Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) and a retired employee of Weyerhaeuser.
Survivors include his wife: Emma Phelps Leigh, of the home; two sons: Elvin Leigh, Jr., Plymouth, John W. Leigh, Creswell; daughter: Joyce E. Leigh, Greenville; three brothers: Sidney Leigh, Floyd Leigh both of Creswell, Charles Leigh, Fayetteville; two sisters: Ruth Sears, Norfolk, VA, Annstella Leigh, Creswell; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Church and other times at the home.
